Can She Do It?

I've taken it into my head to do a post every day for the month of April. Attempt to post a little something every day for the next 30 days. This is not an April Fools joke! Perhaps by month's end I will be in the mode of posting more often. Or maybe I will be so glad to be done with the month that I will post even less.
So, without further ado, here goes: A couple of catch-up photos of two very special children with their birthday cakes last month.

K loves helping me bake and she really wanted to help me make the cake(s). Since their birthdays are only one day apart, I cheated a bit. I made one cake, baked it in a 13x9, cut it in half and decorated each half as a separate cake.I probably won't get away with this for long. It was a carrot cake. I wanted something I would be comfortable with T eating as he seems to have some food allergy issues. I have a great carrot cake recipe that calls for carrot baby food instead of all the grated carrot. It is delicious and moist.
As K and I mixed up the batter, she seemed unsure if she would like it. She didn't care for the brown color, she kept wondering if it would be a chocolate cake.
But she liked it. She was first excited that it was a pink cake. I think she thought it was going to be brown like the batter. Then as she tasted it, her verdict was "I really like this!"
T really liked his taste, too, though he only got to have a tiny bit.

Go Rena! I need to start getting back into blogging again - I've been a slacker recently. Great cakes! Audrey will enjoy seeing the pics of them tomorrow.
