Emergence
Last summer when these tulips were done blooming, I removed the spent leaves and stems and dug up the bulbs with great hopes that in the fall I would plant them again in our new home. Alas, it was not to be. Last fall at tulip planting time, we had indeed moved, but not to a permanent home, and I wasn't even sure where the saved bulbs were in those mounds of boxes.
As boxes were unpacked, I found the bulbs, and in November planted them in pots, hoping that though it was late, I could still coax them to grow.
And they have!
A couple weeks ago, little tips started poking out of the soil and they are growing bigger, unfolding into green leaves.
I do not have a good camera for close-ups, but I like how you can see the plant pushing the soil up and out the way as it reaches for the sun. Hooray for emerging growth!

How exciting to see new growth emerging. I think tulips are one of my favorites.
Glad you found the bulbs.
Can't wait to see them in full bloom!
Spring! it's almost here! I always get pretty excited when they push outta the ground, fun photos!
How exciting! They look very healthy!
I love watching plants grow. It is so hopeful, especially towards the end of Winter!
When my son was little I had him keep a journal of Paper Whites growing by drawing their picture every other day. He thought it was the neatest thing.
I love your E. Emergence is such a beautiful word. Really like how the bulbs are spurting out.
I wish we could see plant growth right now but theirs too much snow on the ground.
On behalf of the ABC team, thanks for participating.
A great E word! I always love to see new growth on plants. It makes me hopeful for spring. Thanks for visiting my blog. Hope to see you back soon.
That's what I should have done as well: put all the bulbs in pots instead of leaving them in my shed.
And tulips are a great choice as well...
What a great sight to see! I am going to start looking around for such sights!!!
Great post! I love the first picture!
I have tulips in pots, too - my 'Princess Irene' tulips. I so hope they'll grow again this year!
How Exciting, that your tulips survived their journey.
Thanks for visiting my blog, I hope you will join me next Tuesday with a Trivia Tie in.
