Serendipity

This little Brown-Eyed Susan plant was a volunteer in the flower garden. Last year it was just a little clump of leaves that appeared and sat quietly all summer, but this year it grew and was covered with flowers. It has been such a joy--it faces the kitchen window, so I look at it every day. When I planted the flower garden I put the tallest plants in the back--the side closest to the house. This means that the garden looks great from the street but what we see from the house is rather limited. So this little bush smiling at me every day has been a treat.
