Butterfly Birthday

K has turned 8!  This year she asked for a butterfly themed birthday.  It's a good time of year for a butterfly birthday.  It was easy to find some cute decorations at the craft store and I simply used those to decorate the cake.

She was pleased.

I also bought silk springy flowers and fashioned some butterflies out of tissue paper to hang from the light fixture.  This photo turned out pretty badly, but K seemed to think it was magical to have butterflies and flowers floating about.

It was a happy birthday for a girl who is growing up so quickly.  It makes me both proud and wistful to see her becoming more independent, but I love her enthusiasm and eagerness to learn.
